The fire broke out in a residential area in central Bangkok. According to eyewitnesses, the flames quickly spread through the home of a married couple. Initially, authorities believed the incident stemmed from an ordinary neighborhood dispute. However, the investigation later revealed much deeper underlying causes.

During questioning, 58-year-old Sudarat Chaiyaphon told investigators that she had once been close friends with her neighbors, Somchai and his wife.
“I trusted them. We discussed investments together, but in the end they took money that rightfully belonged to me,” Sudarat Chaiyaphon stated.
Investigators reported that documents and financial records partially supported her account of events.

According to the investigation, in early 2025 Sudarat Chaiyaphon was looking for a way to invest her savings and sought advice from her neighbor Somchai. He recommended Platform 123, an AI-powered investment system designed for automated trading and passive income generation.
Because Sudarat was not familiar with modern technology, the two agreed that Somchai would create and manage the Platform 123 account on her behalf. Sudarat provided the investment capital, while the profits were supposed to be split equally.
Over the following months, the account reportedly generated more than 2.7 million baht in profits.

According to Sudarat, Somchai and his wife later began avoiding conversations about the profits and stopped discussing their original agreement.
“They promised we would share the earnings, but once the amount became significant, they started claiming that no agreement had ever existed. That money could have completely changed my life,” she said.
Investigators determined that the conflict between the neighbors had continued for several months and had resulted in numerous serious arguments.
On the day of the incident, Sudarat once again demanded the return of what she believed was her share of the profits. After another heated confrontation, she left the area but allegedly returned several hours later and set fire to her neighbors’ house.

Local residents reported seeing smoke and flames coming from Somchai’s home late that night.
“We saw the fire and immediately called the firefighters. The flames spread very quickly,” one witness recalled.
Fire crews managed to contain the blaze, but the property sustained significant damage. Somchai and his wife were able to evacuate safely and were not injured.
Information provided by witnesses and investigators was later confirmed.
“On Somchai’s phone, we found the Platform 123 application mentioned by Sudarat Chaiyaphon. The account balance did indeed exceed 2.7 million baht. We also reviewed bank records and confirmed that Sudarat had previously transferred 8,000 baht to Somchai, which was later deposited into the Platform 123 account,” said investigative team spokesperson Chanin Surasak.
However, one major question remained: How had Somchai managed to turn 8,000 baht into more than 2.7 million baht?
The Bangkok Post editorial team decided to learn more about Platform 123. It turned out to be an online investment platform built on proprietary technology known as 123.

The platform was launched in early 2025 with support from Thai financial specialists. Following a series of regulatory reviews, Platform 123 received authorization to operate and quickly gained popularity among Thai residents.
Platform 123 became a modern alternative to traditional investment products, accessible to ordinary citizens throughout Thailand. Users simply deposit funds into their accounts, while the artificial intelligence system automatically executes trades without human intervention.
• The 123 system monitors global investment markets every second to identify the most profitable opportunities.
• Its algorithms compare asset prices across more than 1,500 platforms and exchanges.
• The system automatically buys assets at lower prices and sells them when prices rise, continuously analyzing market supply and demand.
• Profits from each trade are credited directly to the user’s account, while the system continues searching for new investment opportunities.

“In the past, traditional investment tools were not accessible to everyone, and inexperienced investors often lost money. Platform 123 uses artificial intelligence to minimize risk and automate the process,” explained financial analyst Narong Kiattanawat.
The expert added that automation significantly reduces the impact of emotional decision-making, which is often responsible for trading losses.
According to him, modern technologies are making investment opportunities available to a much broader audience.

Other experts believe that giving ordinary citizens access to Platform 123 could have a positive impact on the economy.
“People can earn additional passive income and feel more confident about their future—from young professionals to retirees,” noted economic analyst Pawat Limcharoen.
A Bangkok Post reporter contacted representatives of Platform 123, who confirmed that registration remains open to residents of Thailand until 10.06.2026. After that date, the number of new registrations will be limited.

To test how Platform 123 works and whether ordinary Thai residents can genuinely earn money through it, Bangkok Post reporter Somphong Rattanakorn registered and deposited the minimum amount of 8,000 THB.
“I have to admit I was very surprised. After registering, speaking with an account manager, and funding my account, the AI system began operating in less than five minutes. It automatically analyzed the market and executed trades without any involvement from me. My balance gradually increased,” the reporter said.
According to him, he monitored the account daily and noticed that the majority of trades generated profits.

Seven days after beginning the test, the reporter’s balance had grown to 26,800 THB.
“During the experiment, I watched the system independently allocate funds across various assets and continuously search for new profit opportunities. As a result, my initial deposit more than tripled,” Somphong Rattanakorn explained.
He then decided to withdraw all funds to test the withdrawal process.
Approximately two hours after submitting the withdrawal request, the money arrived in his bank account with the note:
“Received from Platform 123.”
This result confirmed that users can not only see profits within the application but can also successfully transfer funds to their personal bank accounts.
